Retreat for Music Ministers 16-23 July 2014

A Time for Song and Silence – Music Ministry Retreat set in the historic city of Rome and the beautiful setting of the Irish College, this second retreat offers to all involved in music ministry an opportunity to nourish their own spirits and take time to reflect on the mystery behind the ritual. Each day, participants will have an opportunity for communal and private prayer with a music-based workshop offering new resources. Participants will experience the celebration of the liturgy in the beautifully refurbished Chapel of the Irish College and will also have the opportunity to celebrate the liturgy in some of the beautiful historic sites of Rome, experiencing much of the culture of this ancient city. The retreat will be directed by Fr Liam Lawton with Julianne Woods as musical coordinator.
Welcome to Julianne Woods’ Website
Welcome to my website. I would like to share with you my love of sacred music.

While my principal instruments are voice and piano, I also enjoy playing the harp, organ and concertina. I compose and arrange sacred music.
I taught music at the Royal School, Cavan from 2003 until 2014. I am currently Head of music at Heywood Community School, Ballinakill, Co Laois. I am director of music for choir, Trad group and for school liturgies. I co-direct our biannual school musical. I also teach religion.
I am a member of the Kildare and Leighlin Diocesan Choir and the Carlow Cathedral Choir. I perform at weddings and other liturgies. I was director of sacred music ministry at the Pontifical Irish College, Rome during their summer pilgrimage programme from 2006 until 2015. I have collaborated with Fr Liam Lawton in animating retreats for music ministers in 2012, 2014 and 2016 at the Irish College, Rome and led the liturgical music on pilgrimages to Lourdes, Notre Dame de Paris, Knock, Los Angeles, St Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City and Rome.
I hope that you enjoy exploring the wonderful world of sacred music with me.
